Employer Validation & Posting Guidelines

EXHIBIT A: Employer Validation & Posting Guidelines

Effective Date: August 28th, 2025

Incorporated into Trylrun’s Terms of Service. By creating an Employer account or publishing postings on Trylrun, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to comply with these Guidelines.

1. Purpose

These Guidelines describe the minimum standards Employers must follow when using Trylrun to recruit Students. They are designed to protect Students and to help Employers run lawful, meaningful, and educational internships.

2. Employer account validation

To create an account Employers must provide:

  • Legal business name and DBA (if any)

  • Corporate email address on company domain (no general public email for first-time verification)

  • Official website URL

  • Business address and phone number

  • Authorized contact name and title

Trylrun may ask for additional documentation (EIN, registration) when verification is needed. Trylrun may suspend or refuse accounts that cannot be reasonably verified.

3. Required posting information

Each posting must include clear, accurate information:

  • Role title and team/department

  • Short description of responsibilities and core deliverables

  • Learning objectives and expected student outcomes

  • Hours per week and expected schedule

  • Duration (start/end dates or academic quarter)

  • Location (remote, hybrid, or in-person with city/office)

  • Compensation: hourly rate, stipend, or “unpaid for academic credit” (if unpaid, identify the University Partner)

  • Required skills or qualifications (if any) and whether prior experience is necessary

  • Supervisor/mentor name and contact

  • Any licenses or tools required and whether Employer provides access

Postings must not require applicants to pay a fee or purchase items as a condition of applying or being selected.

4. Paid internships

Paid internships must comply with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws. Employers are responsible for paying Students and managing payroll and tax obligations.

5. Unpaid and for-credit internships

Unpaid internships are permitted only where permitted by law and, for academic credit roles, only after a University Partner has approved the placement. Employers must ensure internships meet the applicable legal standards (e.g., DOL “primary beneficiary” factors and any applicable state rules). Employers are strongly encouraged to seek legal advice before posting unpaid roles.

6. International students and work authorization

Employers must not permit international Students to start work until the Student has required authorization (e.g., CPT/OPT) and the University Partner or school has confirmed authorization. Employers must provide written offers containing role details needed for authorization applications.

7. Supervision and evaluation

Employers must assign a supervisor or mentor, provide reasonable onboarding, offer regular feedback, and provide performance documentation if required by a University Partner for credit.

8. Background checks and screening

If Employer requires background checks, Employer must comply with FCRA and state law, obtain any required authorizations, and follow notice procedures. Employers must disclose background check requirements in the posting or offer.

9. Data and student privacy

Employers must use Student data only for recruitment and onboarding related to the specific posting and must handle personal information in accordance with Trylrun’s Privacy Policy and applicable law. Use of Student data for marketing or resale requires explicit Student consent.

10. Enforcement

Trylrun may remove or refuse postings that violate these Guidelines, the Terms of Service, or applicable law. Trylrun may suspend or terminate Employer accounts for repeated or serious violations. Trylrun does not act as employer or regulator; enforcing compliance is the responsibility of Employers and relevant authorities. In University Partner programs, Trylrun will cooperate with Partner requests consistent with Partner agreements.

11. Changes to Exhibit A

Trylrun may update these Guidelines. Material changes will be posted on Trylrun's website and Employers will be notified. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
